Not long after arriving in Anchorage in 1969 (drove from Long Island New York), I was hired to work in the Receiving Department of LL. There was no elevator, just stairs and a dumb waiter—a tiny freight lift.

I liked working in receiving. I saw the books fresh off the boat (barge). Irene Samson (Samson-Dimond library) was director I believe. To show you how times have changed for the better in 50 years, today I would not have been encouraged to resign because I became pregnant.

I know during Rhondy or a long day downtown during winter it was our go to place to warm up as long as we behaved ourselves. Bonus, we also got to read a book. Back in the day we knew to mind our manners or we were not allowed back in without our parents I loved that Library

From 1972 to 1975; I often visited the Loussac Library in downtown Anchorage and in 1974: I visited there 38 times in that year.
