Used to go to Hewitt's Drug store before the quake. They had a very good fountain and I would get a burger and a shake before walking up to the old Denali theater and watch the double header movie after watching the the news reels and the on going serials that they played every Sat. Nice memories.

Dan – Great memory. My mom worked at the Hewitt's lunch counter. Maybe she served your burger and shake. And we remember the double features, newsreels and the fun serials they used to show at the old Denali on 4th Avenue.

There was another film besides "North to Alaska" and that was "Ice Palace" which was filmed in Alaska. Petersburg was one location. It starred Richard Burton and Robert Ryan. Ther are photos of those two and other members of the cast on Petersburg archives shown at a local dining spot. I just missed being filmed on the docks of Petersburg while three of my friends are seen there among the fishing boats. Gosh, if i had been with them maybe i would have been a movie star! (yeh right)
